Making my Christmas batch!

This is my 9th batch of CP soap overall. I truly enjoy the process of making soap. I made these to give out as Christmas gifts this year. I made 16lbs and boy was that the largest motherload of soap that I’ve made yet. Unmelted soap always looks like mashed potatoes to me. Hmmmm…..I couldn’t pour the saponified soap into the mold by myself so I will need to figure out how to make that part easier for me in the future. The ingredients in this batch include palm kernel oil, coconut oil, olive oil, part coconut milk, part distilled water, lavender essential oil, rose petals, calendula petals & chamomile.

I learned a lot from making this large batch. #1, don’t ever put essential oil in a plastic container. They just melt the plastic.  #2, I need to take the natural oil that’s in the coconut milk into account when measuring out the sodium hydroxide. There were a tiny bit of oils that didn’t get to hook up with any of the lye in the saponifying process.  I say this is just extra moisturizing!!! Soaps up!!!!

I bought pretty packaging for the soap, one is a small wooden crate and the other one a nice paper box. I can’t wait to start packaging them up as gifts. I will post more pictures up as soon as I get a few put together.

Happy Soapmaking!!!
